On August 12, 2025, Energinet presented its business case for hydrogen infrastructure in Western and Southern Jutland with the so-called \u201c7-tal\u201d, which is a hydrogen pipeline connection from Esbjerg via Veerst near the Little Belt and southward to Fr\u00f8slev at the Danish-German border.<\/p>\n

Energinet reports that market dialogues and political ambitions show potential for large-scale hydrogen production in Denmark with exports to Germany. A pipeline-based hydrogen infrastructure is expected to efficiently connect hydrogen production and consumption both nationally and across borders. This can drive the expansion of electrolysis and renewable energy facilities, which are expected to function as flexible consumers of green electricity. <\/p>\n

In its business case, Energinet assumes that the largest and most mature Danish hydrogen producers are located in South and Southern Jutland. The \u201c7-tal\u201d supports the transport of hydrogen to customers in Germany and European consumers in the area. To limit economic risks in an immature market, it has been politically decided to provide operational support for the 7-tal. As the hydrogen market develops and new transport needs arise, the hydrogen infrastructure can be expanded. <\/p>\n
